Pretty much everything you need to know about me is on my myspace. http://profile.myspace.com/underyourskin5420

I'm sorrie to have to resort to being a bother, but I have been trying to figure this out for the last 2 hours on and off (2 kids and a busy day). I had recently run through a trial of windowblinds and after it expired went and installed DesktopX. Now the themes install just fine but the taskbar stays that hideous bright as all heck blue. If there is ANY way anyone could please please help me out here. I'm normally not quite so dense about all this and after uninstalling windowblinds I figured I was aces. I'll check this again as I'm really not sure that I can leave any contact info otherwise. Thanks ahead of time for anyone that can be any kind of help to me.

Well, It would depend on which DesktopX theme you are trying to use. I make a lot of DesktopX themes, and mine don't skin the taskbar. I don't intend for them to. The ones that do appear to skin the taskbar don't really, they hide your windows taskbar and the skin will sometimes contain it's own version of a taskbar. The problem there is, (also the reason mine theme don't contain a taskbar) DesktopX no longer supports taskbar functions such as the systray.

BTW, you're not being a bother, this is what the forums are for.

Are you using DesktopX 4.0?

If you are running a theme that has a taskbar, and DesktopX 4.0, then maybe you should roll back to version 3.5.  On XP, that might let you run a working taskbar, I don't know if that plugin is still available.

Actually, I believe all but one of the themes I was running were yours. I love the transparent look and the side bars are killer. I am on both XP and version 3.5 of DesktopX. That stinks that it no longer skins it. That's the main thing I look for when customizing my desktop as I'm quite often changing my background to suit my mood atm. I bought StyleXP quite sometime ago and everything was fine till XP had to keep updating due to Vista's unpleasantness. I guess I'll just try to figure something out then. Maybe try to just make it transparent. Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it. And your work is amazing. Good luck to you in the future.

It does "skin" it. If I wanted to put a taskbar in my DX theme, it would just be a bar along the bottom of your screen, I could put a start button on it, but the system tray wouldn't work, but we do now have the ability to have it show open programs. But no systray support and you'd have to hide the windows taskbar. DesktopX never actually skinned the XP taskbar, or any other.

If you can muster the small amount to buy Windowblinds, that would be your best bet....it's well worth the bux.

I'm not sure what I've seen then. As far as I noticed all of your screenshots had the taskbar skinned. All the themes I'd gotten off this site had always done so but it's been a year or so since I've used them. I'm going to go ahead and do that. I wish I'd purchased it in the first place instead of styleXP, but oh well. Thanks again for the responses.

That is the taskbar skinned by WindowBlinds by the WB skin RND has made the matching DX theme for, not by his DX theme.

These would be themes that had a replacement for the Windows taskbar as part of the theme, which when a DX theme has it hides the Windows taskbar. DX has never skinned the Windows taskbar it just replaces it with it's own when a taskbar is part of the theme.
